MOUNT HOREB — Gavin Reynolds was eating lunch in the cafeteria at Mount Horeb Middle School on Wednesday when he saw his eighth-grade classmate bang on the window — not with his hand but with the butt of a long gun.
Parents, students and others gathered for a community support meeting at Mount Horeb High School Thursday, a day after an armed student was killed outside the middle school. "How do you move forward from that?" one parent said. "For me this is a start."
Eighth graders Wyatt Bush, 14, left, and Gavin Reynolds, 14, said they ran when their classmate, Damian Haglund, showed up at the school with a gun. The friends came back the next day to look for Wyatt's sandals, which were lost in the scramble.
Heidy Lange, standing on the porch of her shop, Firefly Events Decor and Flowers, saw students running down the street after an armed student appeared outside their middle school Wednesday.
