Michael Holden, Racine Unified assistant director of talent acquisition and employee engagement, said the district wants to minimize barriers for special education teachers to earn full licenses, have a diverse group of educators who reflect the community and support instructors along the way.
Dejaynae Sullivan is one of 12 Racine Unified teachers in a program that is a partnership between RUSD and Carthage College to address the special education teacher shortage.
RUSD, Carthage partner on teacher program
The two-year program allows RUSD employees to earn special education licenses through Carthage College while working full-time.
