The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced Jan. 17 that municipalities across the state received more than $141 million in the first quarter of 2025 for General Transportation Aids, Connecting Highway Aids, and Expressway Policing Aids. A total of $33,028,773 in General Transporation Aid was disbursed across WisDOT’s 7-county Southeast Region encompassing Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha counties. Of that, $2,586,466 in General Transportation Aid was disbursed across Walworth County. Additionally, a total of $91,975 in Connecting Highway Aid was disbursed to the cities of Delavan, Elkhorn, Lake Geneva and Whitewater.
The program, created in 1973, highlights the state's rural character.
