A time capsule celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary, a vessel that won’t be opened for another 250 years, will include several artifacts representing Wisconsin’s past and present, including a feather that once adorned the state’s Civil War eagle mascot Old Abe.
As a living reminder of the Civil War, "Old Abe," seen here in replica, evoked emotional responses in people for years after the war ended said Michael Telzrow, left, director of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. A feather belonging to Old Abe will be added to a time capsule celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary.
A feather belonging to Wisconsin’s Civil War eagle Old Abe, as well as a photo card of the bald eagle and a badge for the 101st Airborne Division have been donated to the America250 time capsule.
