A record number of ATVs and UTVs prowling state roadways and trails has safety officials sounding the alarm about the sport’s rising death toll.
A special enforcement campaign will be conducted by the state Department of Natural Resources and local law enforcement over the weekend to crack down on safety violations by some ATV and UTV drivers. So far this year, 26 people have been killed in ATV and UTV crashes compared to 32 in all of 2023.
