BadgerExtra football beat reporter Colten Bartholomew and columnist Jim Polzin break down what to watch for when Wisconsin heads across state borders to face Iowa Saturday (2:30 p.m., FS1).

The JL bandwagon is rolling (with good reason, team looks much better and is winning). What happens if they lose two of the last three? I guess the question is what would have to happen at this point for him not to get the job?

If Jim Leonhard is hired as the permanent head coach, and I believe he should be, should he keep Bobby Engram as the OC? Or take it a step further and give your take on who stays and goes from the staff.
— Christopher Wollak (@wollakcj) November 7, 2022
A UW hockey question: has the program degraded to the point where’s it’s no longer an attractive job for a top shelf coach ?
— Steve Schuster (@SteveSc84123682) November 7, 2022
Jim Leonhard has made a great case to be the new head coach over the last four games. Has Bobby Engram made a great case to stay as OC and do you foresee him as the primary offensive play caller in 2023?
— Craig Smith (@smithcp1) November 7, 2022
Seconding a question already asked- assuming JL gets the job do you think Bobby Engram will stay on as his OC or do you get the impression he would want his own guy? Offense has been better but is this the offense JL envisions for the future? And if not what can be improved?
— J. Ross (@JRbadgers93) November 7, 2022
Earlier in the season, it looked like the team’s 20 year consecutive run of bowl appearances was going to end. A win over Iowa would make it 21. And then there’s the goal of winning back ‘The Axe.’ The team loves playing for Jim Leonhard. Offer him the job already. Thoughts?

Please have McIntosh explain where we are in the head coach process. Posted? Interviews happening? Who makes the decision? When? If you can fire Chryst day after Illinois, you could have hired Leonard in the locker room Saturday with his team.
— john berg (@BadgerJohnBerg) November 7, 2022
Assuming JL gets the HC role, what changes are needed accross the board as the landscape of CFB has changed? Are there things that need to be brought back, started, or ended…(Spring Game, Mendota Gridiron, etc)?
— Todd (@pilprin) November 7, 2022
The ability to recruit well might be the most important trait of a college football coach these days. The recruiting department imploded under Chryst. Is Leonhard the guy that can rebuild that aspect of the program? Does he have a different vision than Chryst on recruiting?
— Rufus (@Rufus_GB) November 7, 2022
Pretend time. You are Jim Leonhard & you have determined that the only way to do better than Paul Chryst did is by landing higher ranked recruiting classes than he did & do it year after year. (Pretend rankings matter.) What is your plan of attack?
— Chris Davis (@cdavis20000) November 7, 2022
Badgers 3-1 despite only being about 50/50 in the time of possession. Are the days where UW controlled the ball for 40-minutes or more a thing of the past under JL??

Is there a realistic path to the Big Ten West title?
— Michael Paduano (@greenwave70) November 7, 2022
Since UW won't get into a high profile bowl, what would be a fun bowl for the team, fans and reporters to go to?

Will Tony Granato last the season?

Who does money matter as it relates to moving on from Rodgers? Pay him $59m next year to play and go through this another year … or get penalized financially by trading before June 1 but begin the process of moving on
— Rob Finley (@finleyr27) November 7, 2022
Good evening Jim. Is the Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay over? This team is more than a receiver away from contending. Why would he want to come back to this hot mess, coach and GM?
— Sean Stephenson (@sgstephenson) November 7, 2022
To me the obvious blame for where the Packers are now lies completely with the supposed “brain trust” in the front office. Terrible draft picks, free agent failure and we have 30 YEARS of HOF QBs with only 2 titles. When do they feel the heat? Ever?
— Russ Evansen (@waunaruss) November 8, 2022
What the heck is wrong with Aaron Rodgers? Guy looks broken this season
— whitey (@Whiteywilhelm) November 7, 2022
Is it possible we would see Jordan Love start a game this year even if Rodgers is healthy?
— David Ross (@davidross9296) November 7, 2022
Did Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell out coach Matt LeFleur by playing his defense daring the Packers to pass by committing to stopping their run game?
— Jeff Ostach☮️ (@jeff_ostach) November 7, 2022
Is it possible Rodgers and Adams both made each other waaaaaay better than anybody realized? Maybe avarice and ego broke up the perfect marriage
— Clarence Bradley (@ClarenceBB1) November 7, 2022
Do you feel more of the blame this season is being placed on Gutekunst than LaFleur?
— Tommy Jordan (@ThomasJ17883210) November 7, 2022
When a team is playing losing football, (which is basically finding ways to lose and not win them) how do they find a way to turn it around and find a way to win one or go on a roll?
— John G (@John_G_16) November 7, 2022
Do you think there will be changes following this loss? I.e. coaching? Not saying it should but today's performance could spur action at 1265

Badgers fans enamored with Wisconsin freshman in season-opening win
Off on the right foot
Lots of good things happening. Wahl was on fire, Chucky solid as usual, Essegian’s three point shot is lovely, and Klesmit’s energy is palpable. Things to tighten up but a very fun start to the season!
— BethAnn Meier (@BAMeier) November 8, 2022
Bulk up before Big Ten
Need someone to spell Chucky. Crowl has to play like a big - should've been going right at South Dakota. Not gonna fly versus Edey, Dickinson, Omoruyi, etc. Klesmit is gonna be fun. Essegian already a favorite. Wahl and Chucky so solid. Really rooting for Jordan to have a year.
— tbuchner (@OnWisconsin07) November 8, 2022
Lighting it up
Seems like this team might have some scoring depth.
— David Roelke (@droelke) November 8, 2022
Don't stop now
Here is hoping the Bench Mob gets a bunch of opportunities this year like they did tonight. Otherwise our typical Badger Basketball formula. Looking forward to seeing how they grow and pray they stay healthy all year long.
— mike kerry (@BadgerMike) November 8, 2022
Pieces in place
Great game. The three returning leaders were solid. Wahl continues to get better. The three point shooting was great. Several “new” players played well. A lot to build on this year. We did give up too many O rebounds to the Yotes in the first half.
— Doug Schulz (@SchulzDoug) November 8, 2022
Thin on the inside
Great depth at guard, better shooters. Gilmore with some good hustle plays, but still concerned on big men depth. Ivers has the offensive skills to contribute more. Going to be tough to find playing time for Neath, Lindsley. Essigen has a little Herro/Dekker skills as freshman.
— ChazB (@chazb33) November 8, 2022
All in good time
Start Conner
— Ross Leinweber (@BoldCoastCap) November 8, 2022
Like butter
Essegian looks silky smooth.
— Bill_Woj (@Slough_Creek) November 8, 2022
Ready for a tougher test
We obviously shot the 3 well, which we badly needed to improve on
— chuckwestover (@chuckwestover) November 8, 2022
Love to see 4 players in double figures
It will be interesting to see who Gard likes most off the bench
Wahl started a little slow, can’t have him do that in big games
Can’t wait to see us vs a better team
Help wanted
We are a good back up big man from being legit. Carter Gilmore is who we thought he was
— chad wain (@chadwain) November 8, 2022
Take me out to the ballpark
That was fun! Really nice to see some 3s go down. Tyler knocking down free throws was great. Defense was stout, nice adjustment in the 2nd half. Can't wait for Stanford
— Tranquil Chaos (@TuckerChicken18) November 8, 2022
In short supply
They looked good, and most importantly, confident. Too bad Ben Carlson left. They are one solid big man short.
— Dennis Hatlen (@DennisHatlen) November 8, 2022
Going long
Shooters. Essegian and Klesmit. Been a while since Bucky has had legit shooters. It will make everything easier on both sides of the ball.
— Jeff (@bluehighway15) November 8, 2022
Their time is now
And Wahl!
— BethAnn Meier (@BAMeier) November 8, 2022
Making Bo proud
Good start! Good jacket on the coach too.
— Andrew Miller (@heyapm) November 8, 2022
Putting out the fire
Extend Gard!
— Douglas Greenberg (@DougGreenB) November 8, 2022
Looking the part
Very nice to come out and do what we should (and then some) with a team with many new faces.
— Matt Ellenbecker (@mattde5er) November 8, 2022
Sooner than later
Think fans are gonna love Klesmit
— Travis Copsey (@tcopsey4) November 8, 2022
Movin' on to Milwaukee
Good start let’s keep it moving Friday
— Davencaab810 (@davencaab810) November 8, 2022
Pump the brakes
Start @CEssegian
