MILWAUKEE — Stephanie Soucek was working at a hardware store in Fish Creek in 2012 when Democrats launched a recall against Scott Walker over Act 10, the former Republican governor’s signature legislation that effectively ended public sector unions in Wisconsin.
Attending her first national convention, Door County Republican Party Chair Stephanie Soucek said she's trying to take everything in. “We want to show strong support, represent our state well, represent the party well,” she said.
Brandon Maly, chair of the Dane County Republican Party, said he's hoping to take the inspiration offered by this week's Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and "channel it into votes.”
When she first got to Milwaukee, Door County delegate Stephanie Soucek said, it felt surreal. "I'm just sitting there going, 'What am I doing here? How did I get here?'"
Delegates have assigned seats on the floor of Fiserv Forum. Other than naming former President Donald Trump as the party's nominee, the main job of delegates is to attend each night's speeches.
