One of the tastiest and simplest ways to use leftover hot dog buns is to make your own croutons. These crunchy salad toppers are often sold in pricey pre-made bags at grocery stores, but making them at home is a breeze.
French toast has always been a delicious way to use up almost stale bread, but it’s not limited to a standard loaf. Hot dog buns are the perfect shape for French toast sticks.
Why don’t buns and hot dogs come in equal numbers?
It turns out, the standard bun pan size and hot dog weight measuring system don’t quite align. The normal hot dog bun pan makes eight buns while hot dog manufacturers tend to divide the weight into ten equal parts.
It’s an issue that’s so frustrating to consumers that Heinz’s advertising team took note and created a10 buns to 10 wieners pact. Fortunately, with a little creativity, you’ll never need to let leftover hot dog buns go to waste again.
