More space could be available to play pickleball at Lake Geneva Tennis in the future, as a 16,000 square-foot pickleball court facility has been approved to be constructed adjacent to the building.
An Aug. 22 benefit Firefighter Cancer Support Fund fundraiser has been organized in support of career firefighter and occupational cancer victim Ken Larsen of Lake Geneva, a firefighter and hazardous materials team leader with the Lake Geneva Fire Department and a Lieutenant with Illinois' Huntley Fire Protection District. Larsen was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in February 2023, esophageal cancer that has since spread to his liver. The benefit, organized by the Lake Geneva Firefighters Assocation and Huntley Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 4016, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 22 from 4-11 p.m. at the Lake Geneva House of Music, N3241 County Hwy. H in the Town of Geneva, with live music, food, raffle prizes and more. Tickets, $45 each, includes live music, dinner and two beverages. Proceeds will be used to help offset medical expenses, transportation and lodging assocated with Larsen's treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
