The Compost/Brush Drop-Off Site at 4071 88th Ave. will open for the season on Monday, April 6, 2026. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, excluding holidays.
The Compost/Brush Drop-Off Site is available to City of Kenosha residents only and is free of charge. Proper identification showing proof of residency is required. Commercial disposal is not allowed, and dumping by contractors will not be accepted.
The city offers drop-off of compostables, brush and branches from April through November at the Compost/Brush Drop-Off Site. Compostables may be brought in city-approved biodegradable bags or in any clean container but must be free of debris prior to disposal. The city processes these materials into high-grade compost, which is available to residents at no cost.
Brush and branches do not need to be bundled for drop-off. Materials up to 6 inches in diameter and 12 feet in length will be accepted. There is no weight limit for brush and branch drop-off.
Curbside compostable collection
Spring 2026 curbside compostable collection will run from Monday, April 27, 2026, through Friday, June 5, 2026. It is a violation of city ordinance to rake or deposit grass clippings or leaves onto streets, alleys, sidewalks or parks, or into any pond, stream, river or lake. Compostables must be placed in city-approved biodegradable bags for curbside collection.
Bundled brush and branch collection may be scheduled from May through November by calling the Department of Public Works at 262-653-4050. Requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance of regular waste collection days. Bundles must be cut into 3-foot lengths and tied using only string or twine; wire, plastic or cloth bindings will not be accepted. Each bundle must not exceed 40 pounds.
