Geneva Lake VFW Post 2373 Veteran’s Day observances on Monday, Nov. 11 in the Lions Club Pavilion at Edgewater Park in Williams Bay were conducted by Nathan M. Bond, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Retired, a member of Bay-based Geneva Lake VFW Post 2373 and an adjutant with Walworth-based Ingalls-Koeppen American Legion Post 102. Bond recently announced his upcoming resignation as Walworth County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO) at the end of January 2025 to pursue command of the Portage-based American Legion Department of Wisconsin, which numbers more than 54,000 members across 500-plus Posts statewide. He currently serves as one of four department vice commanders for the American Legion Department of Wisconsin.

Williams Bay resident and VFW volunteer Janet Waner-Eaton sold fundraising VFW Buddy Poppies on Monday, Nov. 11 at Edgewater Park before and after Geneva Lake VFW Post 2373’s solemn patriotic Veterans Day observances. An annual national VFW tradition since 1922, proceeds are used in the cause of veterans welfare, or for the well being of their needy dependents and the orphans of veterans.
