Officer Mark Erickson (center left), a 22-year veteran of the Williams Bay Police Department, was congratulated by the Williams Bay Village Board of Trustees and Williams Bay Police Department on Oct. 16 for being named Wisconsin First Responder of the Year for the 32nd Assembly District. Erickson is believed to the be the first emergency responder in the village to receive the state recognition, slated to be bestowed at an Oct. 17 ceremony at the State Capitol in Madison. The Williams Bay Village Board on Oct. 16 approved the final site plan filed by Williams Bay-based Dancing Dudes, LLC, in connection with the planned development of a two-story commecial retail building on a vacant site at 1 East Geneva St. on the southeast corner of Geneva Street and Walworth Avenue in downtown Williams Bay. Built on the site of the former Keg Room, destroyed in a September 2001 blaze, the structure will serve as a new home for Green Grocer & Deli, 24 W. Geneva St. (State Hwy. 67), and Clear Waters Salon & Med Spa, 18 W. Geneva St. (State Hwy. 67).
