The calm before the storm included what Tim Valentyn remembers as a smooth drive to Chicago on the first Sunday morning of October last fall. Traffic was light, the weather was great, his stress level was low.

Tim Valentyn spent one season with the UW men's basketball program as a walk-on and later played at UW-Eau Claire. His son, Brett, later played for the Badgers as a walk-on.
