The schematic changes to the University of Wisconsin football team's offense alters what’s asked of the Badgers running backs, as well as the looks they’ll see from defenses. Wisconsin’s new style with spread-out formations should lighten the box against the run, a welcomed difference for top two rushers Braelon Allen and Chez Mellusi, who are teaming up for their third season together in the backfield. Allen in particular faced the most 8- and 9-man boxes of any Power Five running back last season, according to PFF, and the most in the FBS outside of backs from the service academies’ option-run systems.
