State budget in limbo as Senate Republicans walk away from negotiations

State Rep. Tip McGuire, D-Kenosha, said Thursday it was "interesting" how Republican leadership's attempts to appease their most conservative members has resulted in the second breakdown in budget negotiations in a month. "Instead, they find themselves here again, unable or struggling to pass the budget and needing to talk with the governor about ways that they can finally do what Wisconsinites have been asking them to do."
Senate Republicans have walked away from budget negotiations, making it unlikely the Legislature will complete its work on the next two-year budget before the fiscal year ends at the end of this month.
Wisconsin's state budget expires on June 30. There are three options based on what I am seeing:
1. Accept the Governor's budget. The Governor made clear he wants significant spending and tax increases. The requests don't even make sense... It's a non-starter.
