NEW GLARUS — Katherine May has been a part of her parents’ brewery since the beginning.

Deb and Dan Carey have teamed up over the past 30 years to create not only one of the most recognizable beer brands in the state but have built a massive brewery with an outdoor beer garden that overlooks the village of New Glarus.

The Riverside Brewery, where New Glarus Brewing Co. was founded, is still used by brewmaster and co-founder Dan Carey to make specialty beers. These kettles, constructed in Germany in 1962, were installed in 1997. But the bulk of the brewery's production is done on the south side of New Glarus at the company's Hilltop Brewery.
