COVID-19 vaccines for children ages 5 to 11 were given the green light Wednesday by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, less than 24 hours after the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also OK’d inoculation for the youngest group yet.

Abi Cummings, a 17-year-old from Plain, receives her second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine from EMT Josh Hoege at a drive thru vaccine clinic held May 19 at Reedsburg Area Ambulance Station in Reedsburg. Exactly 168 individuals signed up to receive their vaccine, with the first clinic held for those ages 12 to 15 to receive their vaccine. Around 20 to 30 in the age group signed up to receive their vaccine.
