Cars & Company returns to raise money for children’s cancer research

During the past four years, the event has raised about $300,000 for Curing Kids Cancer.

New pediatrician joins Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center

Dr. George Mussman recently joined Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center-Walworth, N2950 Highway 67 in Lake Geneva, as a pediatrician. Mussman said he is looking forward to working with patients at the hospital. Mussman earned his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He then served his residency at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois. Mussman’s interests include newborn and infant care, preventative care and wellness, nutrition, childhood obesity, gastrointestinal issues, asthma and allergy issues. Lake Geneva Fire Bells to conduct fundraiser on Sept. 20

The Lake Geneva Fire Bells will host a fundraiser from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20 at Hogs and Kisses, 149 Broad St. in Lake Geneva. The event will include a choice of hamburger, barbecue pork sandwich or chicken sandwich, coleslaw, scoop of ice cream, soda and choice of potato chips or fries. Tickets are $15 a person. The Fire Bells is a volunteer group that provides rehabilitation to firefighters, police officers and emergency management service workers in Walworth County during emergency situations.

Lake Geneva Public Library to host paranormal investigator

Paranormal investigator Chad Lewis will conduct “Supernatural Lake Superior” 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 at Lake Geneva Public Library, 918 W. Main St. The event will include stories about unusual places and happenings around the Lake Superior area including a “blood-dripping” cemetery in Duluth, haunted bed and breakfast in Bayfield, phantom creatures witnessed in the Milwaukee area and UFO sightings along Lake Superior. Lewis has researched several unusual stories throughout the world including the Loch Ness monster, vampires in Transylvania, ghosts in Ireland castles and the Tata Duende in the villages of Belize. He has been featured on Discovery Channel’s “A Haunting,” William Shatner’s “Weird or What,” ABC’s “Scariest Places on Earth,” “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” and “Monsters and Mysteries in America.” There is no cost to attend. Badger High School culinary instructor to be recognized

Jamie Lutz, Badger High School family and consumer sciences instructor and ProStart educator, has been named one of Wisconsin Restaurant Association’s 2026 “Top 20 Women in Hospitality to Watch. ”Lutz has helped students explore careers in the hospitality industry during the past 20 years. She has earned three consecutive Wisconsin ProStart state championships and a top 10 national award. She also has been a contributor to the national ProStart textbook. Lutz and the other “Top 20” honorees will be recognized during the Women in Hospitality Conference on Sept. 28 at Monona Terrace in Madison.
