Kenosha DAR announces student Good Citizen Award recipients

The Kenosha Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution recently honored Kenosha County high school seniors with Good Citizen Awards.
In honor of National Puppy Day, Parkside Manor partnered with Woof Gang Rescue of Racine, a nonprofit animal rescue organization. Woof Gang brought three playful pups to Parkside to play with residents.
Dallen Arendt, a senior at Tremper High School in Kenosha, is one of 40 students nationwide traveling to New York City for the National Shakespeare Competition finals.
Kenosha native Landon Boyle will serve as a dog handler for the first time in the Minneapolis-based Children’s Theatre Company’s upcoming production of “The Wizard of Oz.” He is working closely with Nessa and Alfie — two Cairn Terriers starring as Toto in the show — and joins the team of William Berloni, a Tony Award-winning animal trainer.
The KSFCA, a local nonprofit aiming to protect the sportfishing industry and Lake Michigan’s natural resources, partners with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to house and care for the salmon as they grow.

Nigh, a teen services librarian at Kenosha Public Library, was named a Library Journal Mover and Shaker, KPL announced May 6. Library Journal’s annual list recognizes librarians and library staff members across the nation who are “shaping the future of libraries.”
