The judge in an animal cruelty case against Elkhorn-based meat processor Wilson Farm Meats and its general manager found “probable cause” to charge the facility and its employee with violations of Chapter 951 of the Wisconsin Statutes governing crimes against animals. The decision comes after national animal advocacy groups Animal Equality and Animal Partisan filed a private criminal complaint seeking a probable cause finding against the proposed defendants following a March 9, 2022 incident reported by a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspector.
