It’s a big week here at the Wisconsin State Journal and Lee Sports Wisconsin: Our University of Wisconsin football 2021 season preview section comes out Sunday, and we’ve already begun rolling out some of the pieces online.
What do you know about Penn State football matchup with the Badgers? How do we match up? In years past they passed their way to a comeback victory... could that happen this year?
Were Mertz early struggles in camp more to do with the defense being good, Leonhard throwing a lot of looks at him, defense being ahead of the offense or a combination of all of it?
In an earlier Q&A you indicated the Badger football team isn’t National Championship ready yet. You get to take players from anywhere to get them there. Who (and how many) do you take?
2. I’m a big time Badger homer…I discuss with my buddies all the time the potential badgers have of winning national titles in basketball and football. I don’t think they are far off…football I only see three programs that would make me nervous to play..AL, CLEM and OSU.
Not accounting for matchups or game flow, how would you distribute the +/- 65 offensive targets a game for UW to maximize the offense? How many targets for… Berger / Mellusi / Guerrendo / Allen / Davis / Pryor / Dike / Ferguson / Others
Mertz came in with a lot of hype and of course had a great first game. But reading that the offense is a little behind and that Chase Wolf is having a good camp, what are the chances of sitting Mertz early if the offense struggles.
Jim- looking at the 17 game schedule, the over under on the Packers win total is currently at 11. Do you think they get passed 11? I do.
What's your take on the UW football assistant turnover, often for lateral titles. All money related? Were they asked to take covid pay cuts? Course correction after an a few years with few defections? Etc.
