An extra year of eligibility for a group of University of Wisconsin football veterans carries with it an understanding of what to expect in the training camp’s August heat but also added responsibility.
“I think he’s doing a heck of a job building his brand and making use of the attention that he’s getting — and rightly so,” senior fullback John Chenal said of Mertz. “The dude’s a heck of a player, and I’m really happy for him.”
The Wisconsin coach said it's "absolutely worth looking into" a larger college football playoff field, but there are some things he thinks decision-makers should keep in mind before making choice.
