Big Foot got all their runs in the first two innings. Junior Natalie Klamm hit an RBI groundout, Brylee Parrott reached on an error and drove in a run, and sophomore Claire Patek capped off the three run first with an RBI single up the middle.

Big Foot junior Holly Kynell added to their lead to make it a 5-0 game in the top half of the second with a two-run home run over the center field fence.

But Lodi started crawling back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring two runs. They added one more in the third and three runs in the fourth to come away with the victory.

Big Foot finished with seven hits in their final game.

Kynell went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, Klamm went 1-for-4 with one RBI and Patek was also 1-for-4 with one RBI. Junior Lily Wolf was 2-for-4 and Kate Hummel was 1-for-3. Kelsie Kroening had one hit.

“We made a lot of growth,” Big Foot head softball coach Troy Hummel posted on Facebook. “We had passion, dedication, team bond and heart. We never complained and we stayed loyal to each other. Be proud Big Foot Softball.”

This is the first time since 2015 that Big Foot has had a winning record and the first time since 2008 that the Lady Chiefs have won 10 Rock Valley Conference games (10-5).

Team stats

Wolf led the team with 44 hits. Kate hummel had 31 and Kynell was right behind her in the lineup and in the hits department with 30. Wolf led the team in doubles (10) and triples (10). Wolf and Kynell tied for the team lead in home runs with three.

Kate Hummel led the team in RBIs with 32 followed by Kynell with 30.

Klamm had 14 hits, Mylee Walter and Patek each had 13, and Leah Paulsen finished with 10 hits.

Kynell went 10-6 on the mound, finishing with an incredible ERA of 2.82. She finished with 80 strikeouts and had 11 complete games. Ella Kinane went 2-0 on the mound with 17 strikeouts and had an ERA of 4.38.

Badger (5-15)

Tuesday, May 21

Kettle Moraine 5, Badger 3.

After not having a baserunner through three innings, the Lady Badgers finally made some noise in the fourth. Sophomore Danyelle Challe led off the inning with a hit by pitch. Two batters later, sophomore Louise Blakeley walked.

With two on and a runner on first and second, sophomore Lilly Butinas launched a three-run home run over the left field fence to make it a 3-0 game. Up to that point, Kettle Moraine junior pitcher Naomi Sandler had struck out 10 batters and hadn’t allowed a hit. She finished the game with three runs allowed on just one hit, two walks and 14 strikeouts.

Badger freshman pitcher Kenna Petersen started the game on the mound and pitched four innings, allowing just three hits on three runs (two earned), two walks and three strikeouts. Junior Lyla Metcalf pitched two innings in relief, allowing four hits on two runs, one walk and struck out two.

The Lancers added all five of their runs in the bottom of the fifth. Senior Grace Doome got the first run on the board following an error. Junior Casey Navarro hit a two-run single to tie it up at 3-3 before junior Sarah Marcheske hit a two-run double out to left field.

Butinas went 1-for-3 with a three-run blast and three RBIs. She finishes the season with a .327 batting average, a .444 on base percentage, and a slugging percentage of .519. She tallied 17 hits, 11 singles, four doubles, two home runs, and 15 RBIs.

Team stats

Leading the team in batting average was Challe, who finished with a solid .333 in just 63 at-bats. She had 21 hits in the season, 16 of which were singles, four doubles and one triple.

Kaela Zapadisnky (junior) was only other Lady Badger with a batting average over .300, sitting at .309. She had the highest slugging percentage of anyone on the team with a .582. Zapadinsky tied for second on the team with 17 hits and led all hitters with four home runs and 16 RBIs.

Sophomore Kailey Benson had a batting average of .295 and junior Mattie Golz rounded out her season with a .257 batting average in just 15 games played.

Junior Lacey Behm finished with 14 hits, while Blakeley and senior Jazmine Laubringer each had 15 hits apiece.

As a team, the Lady Badgers put up a batting average of .252 and an on base percentage of .337. The team totaled 133 hits. Collectively, they had 100 singles, 21 doubles, three triples and nine home runs.

Williams Bay (10-10)

Tuesday, May 21

Waterloo 10, Williams Bay 0.

Sophomore Sarena Brown and junior Katelyn McKean had the only two hits in the game for the Lady Bulldogs.

“It’s always hard to finish a season on a loss, but I’m thankful that one game does not define who we are as a team nor how hard they worked this year,” Williams Bay head softball coach Emily Allen said. “We had multiple players learn new positions due to our numbers and they really owned them. It’s not every year you have players asking if they can work on this or that because they were inwardly motivated to get better every day at their position. That mindset wasn’t just during the season either as their moving up 3 spots in the conference proved. That improvement doesn’t just happen showing up day 1 to practice and hoping for the best. It was a gift to coach this group this year and I’m very proud of what we accomplished.”

Team stats

Both senior AnnMarie Cates and Brown each had a record on the mound of 5-3. Cates had 43 strikeouts and Brown finished with 47 strikeouts. Brown also led the team in hits with 21 followed by sophomore Kalie Stanek with 21 hits.

McKean and sophomore Maisie Smith each had 18 hits. Smith was tied for the team lead in doubles with two. Cates finished with 16 hits, including two home runs and sophomore Sophia Count tallied 12 hits, which included three triples to led the team.
