WISCONSIN DELLS — Kalahari Resorts and Conventions is finishing construction on an $85 million, 75,000-square-foot addition called that features the first retractable roof in the Dells area.

Representatives from Kalahari Resorts & Conventions and its contractors provide a preview of the future addition to the attraction Tuesday. Among the new features are a 70-foot slide tower, the nearly 10,000-square-foot Watering Hole Pool and a retractable glass roof.
The Boomerango, blue slide at left, and Viper Venom water coaster slide, center, are two of three large slides that will descend from a 70-foot platform at the Kalahari waterpark expansion, also known as The Watering Hole.
The Viper Venom water coaster slide has peaks and valleys throughout the upcoming expansion. A retractable roof, top left, allows the park to function as an outdoor attraction in the summer while keeping out the cold in the winter. It will be the first retractable roof waterpark in Wisconsin Dells.
Media representatives got first glimpses of the Boomerango and water coaster slides on Aug. 18 at the upcoming Kalahari Resorts Wisconsin Dells Watering Hole expansion.
The Grotto, a swim-up bar and water lounge space, will be an indoor-outdoor adult attraction on the east end of the expansion. The rock formation setting mimics the bluffs found in the Driftless Area.
An indoor-outdoor whirlpool, called Dolphin Reef, features a large outdoor portion that will be open in the winter.
