LANCASTER - June Wieland Mulvenna was only 5 years old at the time but she has fond memories of the farm on which her father milked his small herd of dairy cows.
June Wieland Mulvenna of Walworth, left, lived as a young girl on the farm where the century-old round barn was built in the community of Hurricane. Mulvenna was shown around recently by Morgan Spitzer, an employee with Vesperman Farms where the barn now resides, and Bruce Vesperman, whose son, Kyle, purchased the building in 2022.
The Vesperman round barn is believed to have been constructed prior to 1922 in the Grant County community of Hurricane and, after last year's move, has a new roof and foundation.
Bruce Vesperman takes in the interior of the round barn purchased by his son, Kyle, and moved in early 2022 to Vesperman Farms near Lancaster. The structure, whose ceiling resembles a piece of art, has been restored and is now open to the public.
Workers with Dairyland Power Cooperative lower power lines in February 2022 as the 45-foot-high round barn is moved across the Grant County countryside southwest of Lancaster.
The round barn is among several buildings moved over the years to Vesperman Farms near Lancaster. This carriage house behind Bruce Vesperman and his son, Kyle, had been at the hospital in Lancaster.
