The Lake Geneva Plan Commission approved several downtown design changes, including facade and signage updates for Simple Cafe and sandwich board signs for Geneva Lake Arts Foundation and The Board Shop.

A renovation project has been completed to the Geneva Lakes Family YMCA’s Wellness Center, 203 S. Wells St. in Lake Geneva. The project included installing new fitness equipment, updating the flooring and enhancing the layout of the center. As part of the renovations, six new squat racks, a power lifting platform, expanded free-weight and strength-training areas, cable and plate-loaded equipment, improved cardio area, Ab/Adductor machine and Hip Thruster machine have been installed at the YMCA facility. Melissa Monge, program operations director at Geneva Lakes Family YMCA, said the updated Wellness Center will provide more quality workout space for patrons.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension will host manure spill response demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 at Dutch-Made Holsteins, across from W3523 Mohawk Road in Lake Geneva. The free event will demonstrate techniques for how farmers, emergency workers and commercial applicators can react to an actual manure spill incident. Demonstration will include information about impact of tillage on flow, blocking a culvert and proper clean-up techniques using high-volume water flush and lower-volume power wash. A 44-year-old Madison man has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide in relation to an incident that allegedly occurred in the city of Whitewater in July, according to a press release from the Whitewater Police Department.
VISIT Lake Geneva and Geneva Lakes Family YMCA are teaming up to conduct the 2026 Bundle Up Together campaign, through Dec. 15. As part of the campaign, residents may donate coats, snow pants, hats, mittens, gloves, boots and other gently-used winter clothing items at VISIT Lake Geneva’s Visitor Information Center, 201 Wrigley Drive in Lake Geneva, or Geneva Lakes Family YMCA, 203 S. Wells St. in Lake Geneva, for Walworth County residents who are in need. Clothing sizes from toddler through adult may be donated. Free Bundle Up Together distribution events will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Nov. 14 and Nov. 15 at the American Legion Frank Kresen Post 24, 735 Henry St. in Lake Geneva, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Dec. 6 at Geneva Lakes Family YMCA, 203 S. The East Troy Electric Railroad Museum, 2002 E. Church St. in East Troy, will offer trick-or-treat train rides 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, 16, 23 and 30. Train rides will include a 25-minute trip from the East Troy Depot to Jim Byrnes Memorial Park, where participants may go trick-or-treating, participate in various games, view Halloween decorations and use the playground equipment before reboarding the train. After returning to the depot, children will have an opportunity to select a pumpkin to take home with them.
