WILLIAMS BAY — The importance of education has a long history in Williams Bay, beginning in 1839 with classes taught in the town of Linn home of Mrs. Lucinda Williams, daughter-in-law of Israel Williams, for whom the village was named. There were 10 students in the school, including Festus Williams, Lucinda’s six-year-old brother-in-law.
