The Williams Bay Board of Education on Sept. 9 approved three renewal fall co-op sports agreements with Walworth-based Big Foot Union High School. The agreements are for boys soccer, girls tennis and cross country.

The Williams Bay Village Board on Aug. 19 approved the passage of Resolution R-59-24, authorizing a 5-year, $61,8976 contract extention with Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Axon Enterprises, Inc. for Williams Bay Police Department body cameras.

        Lake Geneva Country Meats, 5907 State Hwy. 50, won Honorable Mention at the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair for their bone-in ham and Honorable Mention for their snack sausage.           'Stars, Stripes & Fair Delights' - Opening day of 2024 Walworth County Fair

            With a patriotic theme of “Stars, Stripes and Fair Delights,” the 175th Walworth County Fair welcomed large crowds to the 99-acre Walworth County Fairgrounds in county seat Elkhorn over its 6-day Aug. 28-Sept. 2 run. One of the oldest and largest county fairs in Wisconsin, the Walworth County Fair dates back to 1849, just a year after Wisconsin’s 1848 establishment.

              The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reminds hunters to prepare for the opening of several hunting seasons in September. There are six dates throughout September when seasons open. Hunters are encouraged to double-check season dates and that they have acquired all necessary licenses and stamps before going out for a hunt.

                  Lake Geneva considers accessibility options for beach

                  Lake Geneva officials are considering purchasing items to help make Riviera Beach more accessible for residents with disabilities. Members of the City Council’s Piers, Harbors and Lakefront Committee unanimously approved on May 12 for Harbormaster Luke Riesterer and Parks Director David Winger to develop a plan to purpose equipment to help make the beach and lakefront area more accessible using funds that were allocated to purchase a seaweed harvester. Riesterer and Winger are set to present their plans to the full City Council on Tuesday, May 26. City officials are considering purchasing mats and mobile devices to help make the beach more accessible, as well as a kayak arm to make it easier for people to enter and launch their kayaks.
