Police began Wednesday morning removing an illegal encampment from Library Mall at UW-Madison. The encampment was established on Monday by supporters of Palestinians in Gaza.

Police moved in shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday and began removing tents and other personal items established by protesters on Monday at Library Mall.

Officers clash with Gaza war protesters while trying to remove an unsanctioned encampment on Library Mall early Wednesday at the campus of UW-Madison. Police announced 34 arrests and said four officers were injured.
Police detain a demonstrator Wednesday. UW Police spokesperson Marc Lovicott said the arrests were prompted by protesters pushing back against officers attempting to take down tents.
