Looking to build on the positive momentum achieved over the past year, the Geneva Lake West Chamber of Commerce on Monday made an ambitious funding request of the Fontana Tourism Commission, asking for $80,000 in funding over two years — $40,000 each in 2024 and 2025 —in support of the 157-member chamber. The commission voted to review the chamber's funding request.
Looking to invest in municipal capital improvement infrastructure projects, the Fontana Village Board on Jan. 8 approved a resolution authorizing the sale and issuance of $5,435,000 in Series 2024A general obligation corporate purpose bonds. Principal and interest will be paid on the 20-year bonds from 2025-2044.

The Fontana Village Board on May 13 considered the question of possibly approving a temporary ordinance amendment proposal that would extend bar closing hours from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. in the village for any Class B or Class C licensed premise during the July 15-19 Republican National Convention at Fiserv Forum in downtown Milwaukee.
On June 11, the Williams Bay-based Geneva Lake Environmental Agency (GLEA) reported the results of its latest weekly water quality sampling for the 2024 season beach season around Geneva Lake, finding "all beaches are safe."

With minor year-to-year update revisions, board members appoved the district's 2024-2025 Professional Staff Handbook, Support Staff Handbook, Student/Parent Handbook and Daycare Handbook. With regard to approval of the Daycare Handbook, the fee schedule is unchanged.
Property taxes will rise in Fontana-on-Geneva-Lake in 2025 after village trustees on Nov. 25 approved the passage of Ordinance 112524-01, adopting a $5,513,859 property tax levy inclusive of $462,180 in Tax Increment District (TID) contributions and a $5,051,679 general village property tax levy, the latter up 1.25%.

The Fontana Film Club will host a red carpet world premiere weekend for its newest thriller production, Super Falcon, with showings on Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, March 15 at 2 p.m. in the gymnasium at Fontana Elementary School, 450 S. Main St. in Fontana-on-Geneva-Lake. There will be free popcorn and free prizes. Admission is free. Donations in support of the Fontana Film Club are welcomed and appreciated.
