Column: I did it! I walked the whole Lake Geneva Shore path in one day. Do I recommend it? That depends

No more yellow brick road

One of the interesting things about walking the path multiple times is seeing the changes, both good and bad. One of the sections I missed seeing was the yellow brick road by what used to be the Driehaus Estate. It still had a little yellow, but as of the end of July it was mostly gray and the fun yellow brick road signs were gone.

Beautiful stairs and beautiful view

Another one of the stretches that was new was a new staircase on the north shore between Lake Geneva and Williams Bay. There used to be a ramp there and now there is a beautiful new staircase that is much nicer on the legs.

Always something new

While I may not walk the entire 25-mile path in one day, I will walk sections again. I look forward to seeing some of the new houses next year. Here is the new home going up where the old Frank Lloyd Wright replica “Fallingwater” was located.

Williams Bay Art Festival

The day we walked the lake path was also the day of the Williams Bay Art Festival. It was fun to walk along the park and see the people and the art. We didn’t have time to stay and shop, but it was still fun to see.

The view from Fontana as you start the walk on the south shore is beautiful. It was fun to see so many families out enjoying a beautiful Geneva Lake Saturday.

Another change

ABOVE: Another change along the lake path was the remodeling of Black Point Manor, not to be confused with Black Point the museum. The manor sits on its own lagoon. It was sold in 2020 for $6.75 million. Extensive work is being done to the exterior, going from a cream and stone exterior to the more popular white farmhouse look.
