The 20-year-old Davis, a La Crosse native, was Big Ten Player of the Year and a consensus All-American after improving over his freshman and sophomore seasons. His sights were set on the NBA from a young age, and now follows in the footsteps of his father, Mark.

Johnny Davis' standout skill is his feel for the game with the ball in his hands. Really good in the halfcourt, knows how to get defenders off balance and create shots. Also a high motor defender. Shot 30% from 3PT last year, so that will be an area for growth.

Johnny Davis trained to reach the NBA, following in his father's footsteps, and on Thursday became the first Badger to be drafted since 2015. He's the first selection from La Crosse since 1947.
Johnny Davis entered Badgers royalty alongside Devin Harris and Frank Kaminsky, who says Greg Gard mirrors Bo Ryan's ability to develop talent and have success with Wisconsin men's basketball.
Wisconsin will play a NIT team from last season, though both programs lost NBA draft picks and other key players. The Big Ten has won three straight challenges.
Frank Kaminsky spent three seasons with the Phoenix Suns but his time was cut short in 2021-22 due to a knee injury. Now, the 29-year-old veteran heads closer to home with an Eastern Conference team.
