Tensions in the Middle East have escalated again, with the US and Iran launching fresh strikes, while Kuwait has reported damage to its international airport following an Iranian drone attack. According to US Central Command, American forces carried out “self-defence” strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island after Iranian missiles and drones were launched toward regional targets. The US military said it also intercepted several incoming threats, including drones aimed at civilian vessels and missiles targeting Gulf countries. Iran claims its actions were in response to recent US military operations in the region. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says it targeted American-linked facilities and has warned that any disruption to security in the Strait of Hormuz will have consequences. According to Kuwaiti officials, drones struck Kuwait International Airport, causing significant damage to part of Terminal One and injuring several people. Commercial flights were temporarily suspended following the attack. The latest exchange comes as ceasefire efforts between Washington and Tehran have shown little progress. Despite reports of setbacks in negotiations, US President Donald Trump said talks are continuing, while US officials say any relief from sanctions remains tied to Iran’s nuclear program.
