On May 29, the Williams Bay-based Geneva Lake Environmental Agency reported the results of its latest weekly water quality sampling for E. coli (Escherichia coli) at public beach locations around Geneva Lake. The May 28 testing found “all beaches are safe” according to Lake Manager Intern Henry Huss, although elevated levels at the creek/lake mixing zone in Williams Bay saw an advisory issued.

Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced May 23 that 53 locations will become the first federally-funded fast charging electric vehicle stations in the state funded through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
In total, to support these 53 projects, WisDOT awarded $23.3 million of the more than $78 million the state is expected to receive over the next five years.

Tony Evers on May 14 recapped his annual statewide “Pothole Patrol” tour, which included 11 stops across Wisconsin to fill potholes and highlight his administration’s efforts to repair and improve infrastructure across the state. This year’s tour marked the governor’s fifth “Pothole Patrol” circuit since taking office, including in 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023, making this the fourth year in a row the governor has conducted his tour.

On April 19, State Rep. Amanda M. Nedweski (R-61, Pleasant Prairie) announced her bid for re-election to the Wisconsin State Assembly. In the newly adopted legislative maps, districts have been renumbered.While Rep. Nedweski currently represents District 61, she will be running this year to serve in the 32nd Assembly District, which now includes approximately 70% of the area that was formerly the 61st District. The 32nd Assembly District is currently represented by State Rep. and Senate Majority Leader Tyler August (R-Walworth).
