RACINE — The Racine Common Council's first meeting in August will be Wednesday, Aug. 5, rather than its typically scheduled Tuesday date.

While the Chavez center is outside District 5, the city clerk's office identified it as the best polling place for voters amid the demolition of Roosevelt Elementary School.

District 2 Alder Tyler Townsend, District 8 Alder Cinthia Esqueda and District 12 Alder Henry Perez were not reelected to their seats.
The program will help to address blighted properties throughout the city.
The Lincoln King Community Center and Federally Qualified Health Clinic are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
Management company says it was told there can be no changes to proposal.
The Tax Incremental Districts will allow for the further development of the Lincoln King neighborhood and for the city to more easily market the former YMCA site to developers, city staff said.
The agreement increases bargaining unit members' employee health insurance premium contributions from 7.5% to 10% starting Jan. 1, 2027, and to 12.5% starting Jan. 1, 2028.
Under the new contract, the city will pay a $150,000 management fee to 5kevents each year, as well as an operations subsidy of $225,000 in 2026 and $237,000 in 2027.
LJGG will lease Shoop Park for a one-time payment of $1.96 million and $25,000 annually, which will be adjusted for inflation each year. The city will designate the one-time payment for the new Lincoln King Community Center.
Residents in wards 9 and 10 previously voted at Red Apple School.
