Kenosha Unified School District is redeveloping the LakeView K-8 Academy site to improve safety and neighborhood traffic flow. KUSD plans to create a pick up and drop off loop for LakeView K-8 Academy, as the school does not currently have a separate lane designated for student pick up and drop off. LakeView K-8 Academy is located at 6729 18th Ave.
The KUSD school board voted Feb. 24 to approve the purchase of 18 walk-through metal detectors and 15 handheld metal detection wands that will be divided across the district’s six high school campuses.Â
The Tremper High School student government partnered with Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin to host the blood drive inside Tremper’s west gymnasium. The event, which students began planning for in September, drew 481 people and collected 560 pints of blood from donors.
Tremper High School, located at 8560 26th Ave., will host the Southeastern Wisconsin School Music Association District Solo and Ensemble Festival from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 28. The festival features solo and ensemble performances from KUSD secondary students, who will receive evaluations from judges. The festival, which WSMA co-sponsors, is free and open to the public.
The nonprofit Building Our Future’s Youth Voice Project hosted the forum inside Gateway Technical College’s Haribo Hall. Local students posed questions to each of the four candidates who are running for two open seats on the KUSD board.
