Members of the Christian Performing Arts Community are set to present “Willy Wonka” Friday-Sunday, July 24-July 26 and July 31-Aug. 2 at the Badger High School auditorium, 220 E. South St. in Lake Geneva. The play is based on the 1971 movie “Willy Wonka and Chocolate Factory,” starring Gene Wilder, in which a 12-year-old-boy, Charlie Bucket, finds a golden ticket in a chocolate bar to tour Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Director Colleen Walker said the story is enjoyable for both children and adults. She said, besides the story, audience members also will enjoy the songs featured in play including “Pure Imagination,” “The Candy Man” and “Cheer up Charlie.” “Willy Wonka” features a cast of about 35 actors, ranging in age between 5 and 80. Tickets for “Willy Wonka” are $20 for adults and $15 for students and senior citizens and may be purchased by visiting www.christianperformingarts.com or at the door. Children 3 years and younger may attend for free. The Christian Performing Arts Community was established in the 1980s and presents a summer play, fall youth musical and Christmas show each year.
