Wisconsin men's basketball fans give returning guard his flowers after win vs. Rutgers

  • Mar 7, 2024 Updated Mar 10, 2024

It appeared the Badgers had their depth return as a pair of guards who didn't play at Rutgers helped beat the Scarlet Knights.

Looked like a familiar team

This gritty performance by the entire team reminded Badger fans of how well they played from November-January. Kamari McGee showed the kind of energy needed during the postseason. Blackwell, Storr, and Hepburn all played hard. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a run in March!

Seems like a safety issue

They changed the game

Bench is back w/McGee and Blackwell both having HUGE games. Chuckie with incredible D. Gard w/ momentum-changing move to play McGee & Hepburn & Blackwell together. We salute Tyler Wahl. @tjwahl01 Thank you for your great career!

— Chris Davis (@cdavis20000) March 8, 2024

A needed momentum boost

Chucky was the key defensively. McGee is a clear difference-maker. Happy to have him back. Good to see the momentum in 2H. Need the confidence going to face Purdue and the B1G Tourney. Dig deep and stay strong, gents. #OnWisconsin

— BethAnn Meier (@BAMeier) March 8, 2024

Defense was on point

Kamari was the missing link. His enthusiasm and giving 100% every minute has given this team a much needed shot in the arm. Blackwell should be starting instead of Max. Max was getting caught on the screens the whole game. Overall, I am relieved and happy for the win!!

— Mary Korn Erickson (@sixtiesfan) March 8, 2024

Things shifted with Kamari's energy

Thank God for McGee, he was the spark that turned things around! After a sloppy start with way too many turnovers, missed FTs, and lazy finishes at the basket! The Badgers finally took control late in the game. Chucky was skilled pickpocket and kept things close early on.

— Doug Schulz (@SchulzDoug) March 8, 2024

Clean game was needed

Huge. Not sure it goes well without Kamari McGee. He was a difference maker and elevated everybody's game. Bigger test on Sunday before we can say they're back. Not saying they have to beat Purdue, but I don't want to see them lose by 15 with 20 turnovers either.

— Scott L (@CCSO228) March 8, 2024

Took awhile to get going, but when they did ...

Tonight was a must win. The boys showed great effort and energy, still need to work on taking care of the ball tho.

Kamari was a huge spark off the bench for us, which helped big time. All in all great win. 👏🏾

— B y R O N (@ByronGotGame) March 8, 2024

Is that where the hammer comes in?

Amazing how when missing parts return the TEAM looks better. Welcome back @KamariMcGee with all his energy was great to see. Now let’s build on this at Purdue as a new chapter can begin for this season.

— mike kerry (@BadgerMike) March 8, 2024

Full of life with Kamari

McGee is back. All is good.

— Más Tequila (@JoRy_MaMa) March 8, 2024

Tip of the cap to T-Wahl

Welcome back McGee! Thank you Tyler Wahl for bringing hard work and dignity to the Badger program!

— Sue Lehman (@slehman58) March 8, 2024

Forget what it feels like?

i think we scored more points than rutgers tonight

— Hassan (@TheLifeOfHassan) March 8, 2024

Sound thoughts

Team looked better in 2nd but awful in the first. I’m constantly puzzled WHY we don’t Follow our shots. The high picks are being set too high, just a couple of observations to watch! Coming from a 84yr old former player/coach.

— Bill Rilling (@BillRilling) March 8, 2024

A lot of positives

-They beat a team they should beat.
-McGee provided a spark and didn’t really show any rust.
-Hope Klesmit’s injury isn’t too serious.
-Still have a (slim) shot at a top 4 finish in the conference.

Overall, a much needed win.

— Madtown Alum (@madtownalum) March 8, 2024

Oh.

Kamari is the straw that stirs the drink.

— Randall Kohl (@crandallkohl) March 8, 2024

Crazy, or maybe not

This is a Final Four team with McGee in the lineup.

— Pat Heffling (@wurstbrewerfan) March 8, 2024

Aye!

Welcome back, Kamari pic.twitter.com/MilgC7vFeT

— Corey Otis (@CoreyWOtis) March 8, 2024

Pretty sweet close

McGee our glue. And Tyler Wahl kissing the Kohl Center floor? Made me cry. About the sweetest thing I have ever seen at a College game, ever.

— Kristi Conway-Powers (@NoodlesP29) March 8, 2024

It was trending that way

Blackwell had a big-time game

Nice W.. happy for the team.. needed to get that positive mojo going again.. got huge scoring help from Blackwell, McGee.. now put together another strong effort at Purdue, going forward..

— Paul Bergum (@paul_bergum) March 8, 2024

Have to be engaged

Can’t continue to be so casual with the ball.

— Brian Roberts (@JBRTOO) March 8, 2024

One of the plays of the game

I can't remember exactly the time on the clock when John Blackwell made the play of the game. That defensive sequence where he played on ball defense, switched on the ball screens to stay on ball and single-handedly caused a 30 second clock violation, just a superb effort.

— Mark Hanson (@biasauth) March 8, 2024

Hooray!

Nice to tweet after a win!

— Jamie Healy (@JamieHealy7500) March 8, 2024

I think even Barry would smile at this

I’m just glad Barry was alive to see Tyler’s last game at the KC.

— Mitchell Gauger (@MitchellGauger) March 8, 2024

A winning recipe

Spark from McGee
Crowl more aggressive
Chucky is a defensive beast
