Award-winning journalists from across Wisconsin gathered March 15 at the Madison Concourse Hotel & Governor's Club for the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation (WNAF) 2023 Better Newspaper Contest awards ceremony. The WNAF Better Newspaper Contest received 1,144 entries from 102 participating newspapers across 58 award categories. Eligible entries were published between Sept. 1, 2022 and Aug. 31, 2023 and judged by members of the Kentucky Press Association. The Lake Geneva Regional News earned three honorable mention awards in the Better Newspaper Contest, two for reporting and one for photography.

The Walworth County Fair hosts a wide variety of judged competitions over the course of it's 6-day annual run. Here, Carol Steilein of Union Grove in Racine County judges beer breads at the Open Foods judging in the North Hall at the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn. Entries in the beer bread baking competition were judged on a variety of factors including aroma, taste, texture and appearance.

The Gravity of Youth were among the headlining Aug. 28 Park Stage entertainers at the Walworth County Fair in Elkhorn. The Lake Geneva-based percussive piano American rock band would return to the fairgrounds on Sept. 2 as the grandstang stage opening act for legacy rock band Styx.
