Former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham is returning to the Milwaukee Bucks as an assistant on Doc Rivers’ coaching staff. Ham spent four seasons as the lead assistant to Mike Budenholzer in Milwaukee prior to his two-year head coaching stint with the Lakers. The 50-year-old, who also played three seasons with the Bucks, held talks with the Golden State Warriors, according to The Athletic. Ham reportedly also turned down the chance to rejoin Budenholzer’s staff at the Phoenix Suns, according to The Stein Line. The 2004 NBA champion led LA to the Western Conference Finals in 2023 after finishing with a record of 43-39, despite a disastrous 2-10 start. Ham was fired after the Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs this season, despite winning the In-Season Tournament. Rivers arrived in Milwaukee after Adrian Griffin was fired after 43 games this season, with the Bucks later eliminated in the first round.
