Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley was involved in an altercation with fans in his team’s 120-98 playoff loss to the Indiana Pacers. Beverley, who had checked out of the game with 2:30 left in the fourth quarter, appeared to have thrown a ball at a set of courtside fans. The 35-year-old then asked for the ball back from the fans and proceeded to fire the ball with more force back in their direction. Beverley didn’t receive disciplinary action for the incident, but will most likely receive some form of punishment if the incident is reviewed. The three-time All-Defensive player responded to the video of the incident on social media, saying that Bucks had “asked for help all night”. Beverely had a double-double in Game 5, but was unable to repeat the feat as the Bucks lost in the first round for the second straight year. He finished the game with six points, five assists and two rebounds while being three-for-11 from the floor in the Game 6 loss.
Police said in a news release the case has been forwarded to detectives, “who are currently investigating this situation and take all accusations seriously.”
The NBA said Beverley was getting punished for “forcefully throwing a basketball multiple times at spectators and an inappropriate interaction with a reporter during media availability.”
