The Badgers had opportunities to win a top-6 matchup with the Big Ten Conference lead on the line. Fans found faults in the recipe for an upset.

Do it

i would like to memory-hole this game, jim

— liv, swiftie 🏳️‍⚧️ (@livinmke) February 4, 2024

Room to grow

I’m actually more encouraged than discouraged by this one. Huge effort (would love to see this EVERY game from Wahl) and Badgers aren’t going to face any teams with Purdue’s weapons the rest of the way. Gotta make some 3’s though.

— Russ Evansen (@waunaruss) February 4, 2024

Rational thoughts

Blame the refs if you want … the shooting and shot selection killed them.

— Más Tequila (@JoRy_MaMa) February 4, 2024

Bad taste as upset recipe wasn't followed

Ice cold from three (many shots were wide open). Storr having one of his worst games. Chucky ice cold. Bench average. Not a good recipe to beat the best team in the conference. Need to turn around the losing starting with Michigan.

— Chris Davis (@cdavis20000) February 4, 2024

'Cold-blooded' Chucky signal out

Hard fought game. One observation though is that the narrative that Chucky is more unselfish this year needs to change a little as he appears to have no confidence in his shot. I miss “cold blooded” Chucky down the stretch.

— BP (@BPotter2112) February 4, 2024

Missed 11 3s in second half

My kingdom for a second half 3.

We were good enough to beat Purdue. The shots just didn't go in.

— Craig Smith (@smithcp1) February 4, 2024

Tough week for the Badgers

PG has to be better. 0-10 from 3 isn’t gonna win many if any games. You don’t blow a game to Nebraska and this loss wouldn’t suck that bad.

— Ben Patton (@BenjaminP32) February 4, 2024

He battled tough

Despite the loss, kudos to Tyler Wahl. Played his butt off today and deserves recognition.

— Randall Kohl (@crandallkohl) February 4, 2024

Earned not gifted

Every time Purdue needed to answer, they did just that. Bucky didn’t shoot well enough. Purdue earned it

— Jeff Brown (@jbrowneahs) February 4, 2024

People forget the Badgers are good

-As usual Purdue got *EVERY* call over the last 5 minutes
-Crowl plays very soft but he doesn't deserve the call disparity he gets
-Purdue just made more jumpers than we did. Missed a ton of open looks
-Can't settle for Storr 2 point jumpers when in the bonus.
-Still a good team!

— Nick P Bassill (@NickPBassill) February 4, 2024

Defense > offense for once

Encouraging game - the shots just didn’t fall today. Wohls best game by far. Defensive scheme worked, forced Purdue into too many long 2s. Storr is most valuable going to the rim & catch/shoot. Winter should take all of Gilmore’s minutes. Matt Painter looks like a build-a-bear.

— JLC (@caspert1013) February 4, 2024

Let's play angry, like Shaka's VCU teams?

Purdue is good. Wisconsin is good too. Wisconsin needs to get angry and play like they did the last 1:30. The three ball was absent for Wisconsin in the second half and I dare say officiating was questionable in the home stretch.

— Jon (@jon_jandrin) February 4, 2024

Credit given to Boilermakers

Purdue I thought played great defense which suprised me. Took away the Badger 3 point opportunities that we normally see. Out rebounded UW in crucial situations and Badgers could not seem to get a call. But hopefully we get at least 2 more chances in March

— mike kerry (@BadgerMike) February 4, 2024

Would have made a difference

Even if they shoot 20% from three in the second half, they probably win.

— El Presidente (@bcdunkel) February 4, 2024

Could have been used as a decoy

I don’t care how he played earlier today not having one of your best players on the court to close out the game is coaching malfeasance. Storr needed to be in the game the last several minutes.

— Todd J Ewen (@ToddJEwen) February 4, 2024

Fair enough

Re-match scheduled n March. “That’s all I have 2 say about that.”

— Paul Yochum'63 (@PaulYochum63) February 4, 2024

Overreaction much?

I was fooled. This team is not good. Lucky if they hang on the final 9 games to make the tournament

— Austin M (@AustinMG6ix) February 4, 2024

Needed their shots to fall

Needed a big game by Storr. Just not his day. Think he felt the pressure. Chucky needs to be a force in this game. 0 points until the end, not good. Need shooters in this type of game. Connor and JB needed more minutes.

— Kelly P. Fitzgerald (@fitz19) February 4, 2024

Shot selection next level of Storr's development

Missed some opportunities today. I wish Crowl played a little quicker. AJ is going to have to figure out the balance between go-to guy and forcing it. Wahl and Essegian played well. A bit of a ref show at the end there 🙄

— Laura (@DieselAndMe) February 4, 2024

The travel and tight turnaround didn't help

Needed one wing player to catch fire and it's a dub. Really tough schedule spot playing late away on Thurs and then early Sunday at home. Not worried about this group

— matt, at home: Volume 3 (@mtthffmn) February 4, 2024

Efficiency hurt the offense

Close game need better shots by Crowl Storr to go far in tournament

— K. Rudolph (@scientwest) February 4, 2024

None at all. Hard to be top 5

Unfortunately they are just better than us. No shame in that. Hopefully aj slows down a bit, stops pressing so much.

— Sconisun (@sconisun) February 4, 2024

Purdue's defense was big-time

Chuck still needs to hunt his shots more. Wahl terrific. Crowl underwhelming again. Storr playing outside of the system and just looked clunky.

Purdue unreal defense. Tough tough team

— Ron (@RonFiki) February 4, 2024

Excellent atmosphere

I won’t “Fire Gard” this one - Purdue is very good - but it’s why the collapse at Nebraska and ugly loss at Penn State hurt so much. Storr played poorly. Wahl was excellent. The crowd was great.

— UWOX95 (@wpscmsn) February 4, 2024

I imagine life is hard when you're that tall

Really poor shooting and rebounding. Really blows my mind that biggest guy on court can do whatever he wants and when someone else looks at him wrong they get whistled.

— tyler (@BattleBlack2027) February 4, 2024

Plenty of 50/50 balls available

When you get out rebounded that badly, odds are you’re going to lose.

— Eric Eichelt (@EricEichelt) February 4, 2024

Good analysis

Lack of offensive rebounds really killed the Badgers today. Purdue didn’t make many mistakes and we didn’t have a hot 3 pt shooter today which we needed. Still, great game by Wahl and solid effort by the Badgers. Edy is just so dominant .

— Mary Korn Erickson (@sixtiesfan) February 4, 2024

Purdue's guards and wings stepped up

Absolutely no answer for Loyer, Smith and Jones. Too quick and better offensive players than our guards.
Terrible 3 point selections! Just couldn’t get anyone free for a good look.
Our guards kept penetrating with nowhere to go with the ball.

— Rick Nelson (@RickNel59770091) February 4, 2024

It looked tough to guard

Couldn’t handle the pick and roll and couldn’t make shots when they needed them. Good game!

— Mike Zee (@mic_zee) February 4, 2024

Lance was excellent at both ends

Too many strong handed drives to the hoop given up all game long. At least make them beat you with the weak hand. Rebounding hurt them, and not rebounding a FT was a killer again. 0-10 from 3 in 2nd half won't do it. Lance Jones make Purdue much better than last year.

— Kirk Eastenson (@Eastyfor3) February 4, 2024

Spacing important against Edey

Last time Wisconsin was great, all 5 players could shoot from 3 or at least the free throw line. Every big in the last 6 or so years can’t shoot, defense sags and clogs the lane. We won’t make it back to greatness until we have this with this offense.

— Pappa Sloth (@aldamrow) February 4, 2024

Two big keys there

Out rebounded 42 - 29 and 3-19 on 3's not good.

— Gary (@GManWis47) February 4, 2024

We'll see about that

They'll make the tournament. Possibly to Saturday or Sunday but no 2nd weekend. That's the Gard ceiling.

— Peter DiGaudio (@peter_digaudio) February 4, 2024

That's a great point

Had they played this way on Thursday they would have won. Now they have must win against Michigan can’t afford to let this slide continue.
