Badgers fans sound off on Twitter after No. 25 Wisconsin crushed by No. 19 Iowa Hawkeyes
Wisconsin State Journal reporter Jim Polzin asked Badgers fans on Twitter what they thought of No. 25 Wisconsin's 28-7 loss to the No. 19 Iowa Hawkeyes Saturday at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa.
Here's what fans were saying after the Badgers offense struggled for the third consecutive game:
It's gonna be a long winter
The weather outside? Frightful.
— Rob Hernandez (@RobHernandezGLF) December 13, 2020
The Badgers performance in Iowa City? Less than delightful.
But ... we have no place to go (but up) so Champions Week and a bowl and a bowl!
Moving on
Iowa came ready to play and Wisconsin clearly didn’t. Time to file the 2020 season away and make preparations for next year.

Sing it with us ...
There is this great bit at the end of Alice’s Restaurant where after the first attempt at a sing-along, Arlo says, very dryly, “That was terrible.” I hear that in the back my mind right now.

Questionable conversion
Brady Schipper— who was converted to safety this year— getting reps ahead of Julius Davis is stunning.
— RyderCupCaptain (@BadgerOC1) December 13, 2020
Well ... actually
They actually do miss on them - but they are 4-star 2nd and 3rd stringers that you never hear of
— Bill_Woj (@Slough_Creek) December 13, 2020
Can only do so much
With everything that is going on and all the extra stuff Chryst has to worry about u think him keeping play calling was a bad idea? As a HS coach I know how difficult it is calling plays as well as running a team. With all the injuries and Covid, he prolly made the right call
— Jamie Bautch (@Non_ProdigalSon) December 13, 2020
Too many hurdles
It’s what I expected. No receivers, an inexperienced QB, a season without continuity due to the pandemic, a 3rd string center, an inexperienced play caller.....Next year will be significantly better, but only if the young WR’a develop at a rapid rate.
— Adam LaRock (@AdamLaRock) December 13, 2020
When the time is right
Great point. It's next year's starting lineup essentially playing a year yearly. JV offense against good defense the last 3 games is gunna struggle to score.
— Jamie Bautch (@Non_ProdigalSon) December 13, 2020
Headed in the wrong direction
Defense plays well again. The O is bad, Need new OC!
— Marty Steindl (@M_Steindl) December 13, 2020
This team went from top 10 to near bottom of the West in B10. COVID delays aside, we found this program took a step back because of no spring practice and not much prep time for season.
The lack of depth (WR &RB) is evident.
It was bound to happen
A mature take is refreshing. 😊🏈

Stuck in the mud
What has happened to our speed on offense...everyone looks like they are a step or two or three slow...they will get better though...great experience for mertz...future is bright...definitely need to get creative on offense though...throw a wrinkle in...
— aarondentz (@aarondentz) December 13, 2020
Define 'modern'
Did you become a fan in 1994?
— Steve Gasser (@sgcommunication) December 13, 2020
It checks out
Not just coincidence you feel this way. First time since 90 (first year post-Morton) the offense went 3 straight games scoring in single digits. Morton-esque offensive incompetence.
— Thornton Melon (@URaRa_Wisconsin) December 13, 2020
It's been awhile
Kicking game was the bright spot of the first half, for sure. U got to go back to 2001 game against IN here 63-32 and against OHS in Indy 2014 for a more embarrassing loss than today.
— Paul Yochum'63 (@PaulYochum63) December 13, 2020
Still time for redemption
One of the worst offensive performances I’ve seen in a long time. But it was against a great D w/ many critical injuries. Down year but difference between rock bottom and forgetful season will be how they play next week.
— University and State (@UnivAndState) December 13, 2020
Putting in their time
I was 100% concerned about the RB and WR positions heading into the season. There was nothing behind Davis/Pryor and no experienced star RB. This is a JV offense right now and Chryst/Rudolph don't know what to do. Good news is this experience should pay dividends next year.
— Jamie Bautch (@Non_ProdigalSon) December 13, 2020
Ready for a change
Offense is awful and it starts with #5. Let Coan start next week.
— Brian Gilberts (@BCGilbs) December 12, 2020
Reinforcements on the way
I know why we have as many as 3 RBs coming in the 2021 class...
— Todd (@pilprin) December 13, 2020
Youth movement
Too much youth at critical spots ...... Iowa never beats this team if they are healthy or if they don’t lose Taylor and Quintez
— Corey Luebke (@CoreyELuebke) December 13, 2020
No argument here
— Mark Breyer (@MarkBreyer2) December 13, 2020
Not buying it
Agree. One of Chryst’s great strengths is his play calling.
— John Husmoe (@JohnHusmoe) December 13, 2020
Back to basics
Too cutesy with the offense. Screw all the misdirection and simplify things for the young QB.
— Paul Hoffman (@sthfrkflambeau) December 13, 2020
There's always next year
No bowling this year BUT we have a young team, Alveraz will convince Ferguson to return and a stud of a class coming in!!
— Tom Klecker (@Kfkxt01) December 13, 2020
We're almost there
JV team comments are spot on. Can we all just get out of 2020 and hit the reset button for 2021. On Wisconsin
— BadgerFan (@divot516) December 13, 2020
Where'd it all go?
How did the cupboard get so bare so fast?
— Jeff Bruggink (@bru4pk) December 13, 2020
Stacked deck
Outmatched, yet still had our chances.
— Jon Bosworth (@BosworthJB) December 13, 2020
Unrealistic to expect a defense to hold teams under 7 pts.
Nothing easy for offense when best threat is a TE, AND zero threat of PAP or go route for opposing defense to honor.
Many factors conspired to make life difficult for QB.
No translation necessary
Muy mal
— Chris Van Es (@ChrisVE) December 13, 2020
Somebody's gotta do it
This team is hard to watch.
— Ryan (@RyanBrown812) December 12, 2020
Get in line
Sign me up!

And on that note ...
