Badgers fans on Twitter not satisfied with Wisconsin's rout of New Mexico State

  • CHRIS DOYLE
  • Sep 17, 2022
  • Sep 17, 2022 Updated Sep 24, 2022

Columnist Jim Polzin took the pulse of Badgers fans on Twitter after Wisconsin crushed New Mexico State. Here's what they were saying.

Better late than never

Badgers got off to the fast start they so badly needed. Graham Mertz has shown why he was rated so highly in high school. It took his third year but he’s arrived. The team was motivated against an inferior opponent who was 1-19 in it’s last 20 games. Very impressive victory.

— Jeff Ostach☮️ (@jeff_ostach) September 17, 2022

Are you not entertained?

Couldn't kick one more field goal?

— Chris Cesar (@Cesar_Chris) September 18, 2022

Third string's the charm

Dominant win. Pretty much the only blemishes were the O-Line play being lackluster again and that one hiccup by Mertz. Other than that, solid performance. How dare the third string defense give up the shutout though? Lol

You get what you pay for

Difficult to have any takeaways given how awful NMSt is, but two main things for me was that Burkett looks like a legit backup QB option and it was good to see a successful FG attempt. Need to stop these inexplicable holding penalties too.

— Tim Shovers (@tshovers) September 17, 2022

As if!

Yawn

— Fred Ehle (@FredEhle) September 17, 2022

Why so serious?

Hitting the "books"

Must be midterms already, good chunk of students chose to study instead

— Andrew Miller (@heyapm) September 17, 2022

And you know it ...

Happy

— David Leiser (@mustang1brady) September 17, 2022

All uphill from here

New Mexico State is not very good. They actually looked worse this week than against the Gophers. Mertz missed some wide open throws early. Badgers beat a bad team, like they should. It will be a different brand of football next week.

— Bill Vogel (@BillVogel16) September 17, 2022

Too hot to handle

All-red unis are 🔥, need more please. Mertz looked good and so did Burkett. Domination was what was needed today and they delivered.

— Susan Balsai (@sesbadger) September 17, 2022

Smooth sailing

Good to iron out some kinks, but that was just an awful awful team.

— vankaisersoze (@vankaisersoze) September 17, 2022

Lose-lose proposition

Geez…people negative when the Badgers LOSE to a team they are supposed to beat, and negative when they BEAT a team they are supposed to beat. Maybe they are only happy when the Badgers play teams they are not supposed to beat?!

— Bebs (@bebsolson) September 18, 2022

No sleeping on the job

🥱

— Pat Richards (@pgrichards0407) September 17, 2022

Keep it rolling

Very much needed. Onward.

— Christopher Herrem (@cjherrem) September 17, 2022

Glimpse into the future

Burkett has good presence. Excited for him.

— Michael Burger (@Burgscom) September 17, 2022

Take what you get

Braelon Allen shoulda padded more stats and scores 6 rushing TDS

— BrockinSB (@HiuraFan) September 17, 2022

How sweet it is

pic.twitter.com/B8ExMSoj1R

— Relyt (@TLueds85) September 18, 2022

Hey, it could happen

It is what they needed. If they are not intimidated next week they can keep@it close, and then who knows??

— Douglas Greenberg (@DougGreenB) September 17, 2022

Clap your hands

Happy!!!!
