UW secured a commitment from four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer in late December 2022, and he quickly became a recruiter himself for the program.
See who's in Wisconsin football's 2024 recruiting class
Here's a look at the Wisconsin football program's 2024 recruiting class.
Mabrey Mettauer — The Woodlands (Texas)
Grant Stec — Harry D. Jacobs (Illinois)
Grant Stec joined the Badgers' recruiting class in late January after his recruiting stock rose following a strong junior season. ESPN at one point rated him a top-100 player in the class, and 247Sports ranked him the No. 11 tight end in the nation.
He held 19 offers, per Rivals, before committing to UW.

UW wasn't going to allow an offensive lineman with the size and potential of Derek Jensen to leave the state.

Thomas Heiberger — Jefferson (South Dakota)
The Badgers added a big, quick linebacker to the class in April when Thomas Heiberger pledged his commitment.

Landon Gauthier — Bay Port
Landon Gauthier continued the Badgers' recruiting roll when he joined the class in mid-April. The three-star linebacker from Bay Port stayed close to home despite fielding interest from Minnesota, Ohio, Stanford, Syracuse, Wyoming and FCS blueblood North Dakota State.
Kyan Berry-Johnson — Bolingbrook (Illinois)
The Badgers added their first wide receiver in the class in mid-April when three-star prospect Kyan Berry-Johnson committed. The 5-foot-11 speedster was excited by the prospects of the Air Raid offense at UW, and saw how his skills could be used in the highly productive slot role.
He had offers from Boston College, Cincinnati and Syracuse, among others.

Kahmir Prescott — Northeast (Pennsylvania)
A high-upside safety joined the Badgers' class on the last day of spring practices when Kahmir Prescott made his pledge.
On3.com rated Prescott as a four-star prospect, while 247Sports and Rivals had him as a three-star recruit. The 6-foot, 200-pound safety could play both the field or boundary positions in the UW defense.

Hank Weber — Brentwood Academy (Tennessee)
A conversation with defensive line coach Greg Scruggs helped Hank Weber become the first defensive lineman in the Badgers' 2024 class. Weber liked everything he saw during his official visit the first weekend of June, and made the decision to commit.
The 6-foot-4, 265-pound defensive lineman is rated as a three-star recruit and projects as a defensive end.
Kevin Heywood — Pope John Paul II High School (Tennessee)
A big, explosive offensive linemen joined the Badgers' 2024 class after an official visit the first weekend of June.
Kevin Heywood, a consensus four-star prospect, made his commitment June 6 and gave UW's new staff a prototypical offensive tackle body to work with. Heywood stands 6 foot 8 and weighs 300 pounds, and he was a hot commodity on the recruiting trail. He had offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Penn State, Southern Cal, Stanford, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
Ryan Cory — Pine-Richland (Pennsylvania)
Badgers offensive line coach Jack Bicknell Jr. snagged a versatile and talented interior lineman when Ryan Cory committed to UW.
Cory, a three-star prospect, made his announcement the same night as four-star tackle Kevin Heywood. Cory is a 6-foot-4, 290-pounder who could play center or guard at the college level.
Raphael Dunn — The Lawrenceville School (New Jersey)
The Badgers' unique defense was a perfect match for consensus three-star safety Raphael Dunn, who committed after a official visit in June 2023.
Dunn, who stands 6 foot 5 and weighs just over 200 pounds, is expected to fill the dollar role in UW's defense. The hybrid safety-linebacker position requires a player be big and physical enough to play on the line of scrimmage, yet fast enough to cover athletes in space.
After a great official visit I’m excited to announce my commitment to Wisconsin University. I would like to thank my parents @CoachPoeWins @CoachHitsch @CoachMikeTress @_maximus347 @CoachFick pic.twitter.com/4o2sjuKAza
— Raphael Dunn (@Raphaelball9) June 11, 2023
Colin Cubberly — Arlington (New York)
The Badgers continued to beef up its offensive line when they secured a commitment from three-star prospect Colin Cubberly.
The 6-foot-6 recruit has impressive upper-body strength and shows good balance when climbing to block at the second level of the defense. He plays tackle in high school but could play guard and tackle at the college level.

Gideon Ituka — Gaithersburg (Maryland)
The Badgers hope to have found their between-the-tackles rusher of the future in Gideon Ituka, a 5-foot-10 bruiser out of Maryland. His tape shows impressive balance, power and burst through contact. He had 1,106 yards on just 153 carries as a junior, good for a 7.2 yards per carry average.
The three-star prospect had offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Maryland, Syracuse, Tennessee and the previous UW staff. He made his pledge the Badgers during a visit in June.

Jay Harper — Valley (Alabama)
UW coach Luke Fickell likes to have depth in his secondary, and Jay Harper could be a contributor at cornerback early in his career if he’s able to learn the system quickly.
His closing speed and agility jump out on tape, and he’s willing to drop a shoulder into bigger ball-carriers. The 6-foot, 200-pound cornerback is a three-star recruit, but had offers from Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas A&M and West Virginia.
COMMITTED!! 🦡❤️ @CoachFick @Haynes_Badgers @PatLambert13 pic.twitter.com/DPpVQ6eOTI

Omillio Agard — St. Joseph’s Prep (Pennsylvania)
The Badgers beat out some of the biggest brands in college football for four-star cornerback Omillio Agard. The four-star prospect committed to UW on July 1, his birthday, and his ceremony included “Jump Around” playing on speakers and a Bucky Badger costume.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound defensive back had offers from more than 20 Power Five programs, including Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. Luke Fickell and his staff’s history of developing corners helped sway Agard’s decision.
Emerson Mandell — Irondale (Minnesota)
The Badgers continued a strong recruiting run in Minnesota when they landed four-star offensive lineman Emerson Mandell.
Mandell was one of the top recruits in Minnesota, and he picked the Badgers over offers from the Gophers and slew of other offers like Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma, Penn State and Texas A&M.

Darrion Dupree — Mount Carmel (Illinois)
One of the best all-purpose backs in the class made his pledge to the Badgers in early July.
Darrion Dupree is a four-star prospect out of prep powerhouse Mount Carmel, and his tape shows good vision as a rusher and home-run potential as a receiver out of the backfield. He's stands 5 foot 10 and weighs about 190 pounds, and was ranked the No. 4 all-purpose back in the class by Rivals.

Anelu Lafaele — Farrington (Hawaii)
One of the best Badgers of the past three seasons was an inspiration for Anelu Lafaele, who made his pledge to UW on July 11.
Lafaele, a four-star outside linebacker prospect, modeled his game after Nick Herbig after Herbig earned All-Big Ten and All-American honors during his Badgers Career. At 6 foot 3 and 220 pounds, Lafaele has enough size to play on the edge, and his speed can make him a threat as a pass-rusher and in coverage.
Dillan Johnson — Joliet Catholic (Illinois)
The Badgers got a surprise commitment from three-star defensive lineman Dillan Johnson in mid-July after he had UW among his final choices in schools. Johnson first committed to Northwestern, but flipped to UW after Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald was fired amid hazing and racism allegations.
Johnson, who stands 6 foot 2 and weighs about 280 pounds, has a quick first step and violent hands that help him be disruptive between the tackles. His athleticism could let him be an end, but he's got the toughness to play nose guard as well. He is a stellar wrestler, and carries and a 104-0 record into his senior season, and has won three heavyweight state championships.
Dilin Jones — Our Lady of Good Counsel (Maryland)
Bringing in four-star tailback Dilin Jones deepened what was already a strong class for the backfield, and signified the team's commitment to the running back position despite running an Air Raid offense.
Jones is rated as one of the top 15 backs in the country, and his speed through the hole and ability to make quick cuts make him an ideal fit in the downhill running style that the Badgers will feature.
