The 2024 WNBA season tips off Tuesday night and the Las Vegas Aces are looking to become the first team to three-peat since the Houston Comets won four in a row from 1997-2000.
Here's a preview of what to expect this season and the best bets on the market:
2024 WNBA Championship odds and preview, including a look at Caitlin Clark's arrival in Indiana
It appears to be a two-team race for the WNBA championship this season between the Aces and New York Liberty, similar to last year. The two teams met in the WNBA Finals in 2023, with Las Vegas winning the series, 3-1, for their second championship in as many seasons.
But, the arrival of 2024 WNBA Draft No. 1 overall pick and household name, Caitlin Clark, could tip things in a new direction. She's already the biggest name in the sport and should be considered one of the best in the league.
Las Vegas Aces 2024 WNBA Championship odds: (+100 or better)
The Aces have the best player in the league in A'ja Wilson (two-time MVP, reigning back-to-back DPOY, reigning back-to-back finals MVP), who's backed by Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum -- all four are in the Top 8 of ESPN's 2024 WNBA Top 25.
They swept their way to the 2023 WNBA Finals before beating New York in four games for their second straight title. It'll be tough to knock them off, so get them at plus-money while you still can.
New York Liberty 2024 WNBA Finals odds: (+250 or better)
The 2023 WNBA championship runner-ups also have a pretty stacked roster -- reigning MVP Breanna Stewart and No.2 on ESPN's Top 25 is joined by Jonquel Jones (No. 4), Sabrina Ionescu (No. 12) and Courtney Vandersloot (No. 21).
If Stewart can replicate her 2023 season and her supporting cast continues to deliver, New York should see themselves in the WNBA Finals again with a solid shot at dethroning Las Vegas.
Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark WNBA Championship odds: (+2500 or better)
Caitlin Clark arrives in Indiana as the most decorated women's college basketball player of all time. She'll not only be the league's biggest draw based on name alone, but she'll be one of the best talent-wise as well.
Add her to a team that also has Aliyah Boston -- 2023 No. 1 overall pick, already No. 14 on ESPN's Top 25 -- and you'll have a top tier duo ready to take the Fever to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
They're surely a long shot to win it all at 25-1 odds, but it seems like great value for a team that has Clark on it.Â
Despite getting the No. 1 pick in the draft, the Fever only had the third-worst record in the league last season. The pairing of Clark with Boston -- the 2023 No. 1 overall pick -- could be significant in springing them into playoff contention.
The Aces (+100 or better) and Liberty (+230 or better) are atop the odds boards, with the Storm and Sun next closest teams with four-digit odds.
It's quite a long shot, but it would seem like destiny to see Clark lead the Fever to the WNBA title as a rookie after falling in the women's national championship in her final two seasons in college.
