The first NFL Sunday of the 2023 season is just around the corner, and we’ve tracked down the top five player props for all of the Week 1 action.
2023 NFL Week 1 player prop bets: Top five NFL player props for Sept. 10
There are plenty of intriguing matchups across the league in Week 1, including divisional showdowns, playoff matchups, and battles between young stars. Here are our top-five player props on the board.
Nick Chubb props: Over 80.5 rushing yards (-108 or better)
Chubb is one of the best backs in the league and gets to work behind a top-five offensive line. He rushed for 141 yards on 22 carries in last season’s opener and has gone over 80.5 yards on the ground in Week 1 for the past two years.
The Browns have won eight of their last 10 matchups with the Bengals and have a chance to push that streak on their home field. Deshaun Watson was far from his best last season, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Browns feature Chubb early and often.
Justin Fields props: Over 178.5 passing yards (-114 or better)
Fields only threw for about 150 yards per game in 2022 but should significantly improve his numbers this year. The offense was rebuilt and is not outfitted with No. 1 wideout D.J. Moore, who had three straight 1,100-yard receiving seasons with the Carolina Panthers prior to 2022, and a top-10 pick in tackle Darnell Wright.
The Green Bay Packers have a decent secondary but could find themselves on the field for longer than years past because of the changes on the offense, namely Aaron Rodgers skipping town.
Dak Prescott props: Over 236.5 passing yards (-114 or better)
Prescott has been the center of conversation for most of the offseason because of his carelessness with the football last year. He averaged 238 yards passing per game last year, but was all the way up at 278 the year before.
The addition of Brandin Cooks will give Prescott another playmaker to help his pursuit of the over. The Cowboys have also won 11 of their past 12 matchups with the New York Giants and should take advantage of their weak secondary.
Lamar Jackson props: 2+ passing touchdowns (-104 or better)
The Ravens are excellent on the ground, but new offensive coordinator Todd Monken wants to air the ball out, and Jackson finally has a decent cast of weapons to throw to.
Odell Beckham Jr. is questionable for the game with an injury, but that just gives a chance for first-round pick Zay Flowers to announce himself to the world.
In four Week 1 starts, Jackson has thrown 12 touchdowns and 2+ three times. The Houston Texans are starved for talent on defense and will have trouble containing the high-powered Ravens offense.
DeAndre Hopkins props: anytime touchdown scorer (+200 or better)
Hopkins has been out of the spotlight for a minute, but he still averaged just about 80 yards receiving in nine games in 2022 and scores a touchdown every other game for his career. He’s the best receiver the Titans have had in a long time, and especially during the Mike Vrabel and Ryan Tannehill era.
The Saints have a strong defense, and Derrick Henry is always a threat to steal goal-line work, but the Titans will want to get Hopkins off to a hot start and feed him a touchdown if they can help it. We love this play for the value of the line.
