Mounds Pet Food Warehouse was founded in Middleton in 1974 by Ken Mack, who years earlier had launched Mounds Agri Service, a livestock company, in Blue Mounds. By 1984, the farm store was devoted entirely to pet supplies.

The 15,000-square-foot Mounds Pet Food Store on South Stoughton Road opened in 1993 but will close sometime in July. Another East Side store will open in August on Lien Road in a former Bed, Bath & Beyond store.
