Erin Wells, front house manager at the Spring Green General Store, serves up food to a group of women who were all members of Mill Creek Catholic Church in Arena, including Marie Murphy, left, of Middleton, Marian Wright, of Arena, and Ginny Feist, right, of Barneveld. The group gathers monthly at the store, which was put up for sale earlier this week.
The Spring Green General Store opened in 1976 and moved to its current location on Albany Street in 1982.
Karin Miller, right, owner of Spring Green General Store, and her daughter, Caitlin Miller, show where the living room of the apartment at the back of the store once stood. This is where Caitlin, now 34, was raised. She also spent time flipping pancakes in the store’s cafe and running the cash register. The apartment space was converted to retail years ago.
Ashley Kitsemble prepares a bowl of soup for a customer at Spring Green General Store. Working from a thick cookbook, Kitsemble, who has worked at the store for more than a decade, makes a variety of soups each week.

Sue Maxwell, who has worked at the Spring Green General Store for the past five years, prices puzzles but also runs the cash register at the beloved business.
The Spring Green General Store is a requisite stop for many, including this group of bicyclists who had stopped into the store on Wednesday for lunch.
