Photos: A look at 'February,' a film by Tomah native Nathan Deming
Deming has made two of the 12 films in the "Year Project," a series of movies named after each month of the year and that tell the story of Wisconsin's people.
Carl, a gruff ice fisherman, uses a gas auger to drill a hole in Nathan Deming's movie, "February," as Miguel, a Mexican immigrant looks on. Much of the movie was filmed in Tomah, but this scene was shot on Lake Altoona.
Among the stops for Nathan Deming, writer and director of "February," was the Historic Temple Theatre in Viroqua. Screenings were held last month throughout Wisconsin.

A tip-up, used in ice fishing, was part of the atmosphere at Sunday's screening of "February" at UW-Madison's Cinematheque.Â
In a scene from "February," Miguel, left, played by David Ezekiel Duran, an actor from Los Angeles, is driven onto the ice of Lake Altoona by Crazy Carl, a character played by Richie Gordon of New Auburn, who was found for the role via a Craigslist ad looking for a gruff ice fisherman.
